Parade of Lights

Saturday, December 7, 2019

'Tis the season to get festive with family! Hosted by CBS 3 anchor Jan Carabeo, Parade of Lights returns from 1-6 p.m. — a favorite annual holiday event at Independence Seaport Museum. After an afternoon of fun, a parade of local working boats will take to the river illuminated in lights for all to see at 5:15 p.m.

Get your face painted and then head to Santa's Workshop on the Water to learn to make a monkeyfist and decorate a gingerbread boat ($5 per boat while supplies last). Our MakerSpace will be decked with boughs of holly-day activities, like laser-cut ornaments for you to color and take home. Say cheese for an LED holiday card  limited capacity, first-come, first-serve  and snap a photo with the family! ($5 per card, $1 upcharge to include family photo)

Winter in the Delaware River watershed will come to life in River Alive! Learn about fractals in nature and take home a fractal tree of your own in our festive Fisharium, and discover where fish go when it's cold and more about animal insulation and hibernation in our Citizen Science Lab.

Santa himself and Jingle Jack will be spreading holiday cheer around the Museum throughout the day. Be on the lookout to snap a photo when Santa arrives.

During your visit, make sure to find the dazzling display of Silver Ships, our micro metallic models of holiday vessels.

It's also your final chance to explore our exhibit FLOW, in partnership with Philadelphia Sculptors, featuring 10 floating sculptures sited in our boat basin.
