The museum is the proud steward of the Olympia, a nineteenth-century cruiser and the oldest floating steel warship in the world. But do you ever wonder how she was kept afloat during her twenty-seven years of service? If you do, well then, we have just the experience for you!
Join the museum for our exclusive Olympia Hard Hat Tours, where guests climb and crawl through coal bunkers, navigate narrow passages, and more, all while being told stories (the good, the bad, and the ugly) of those who worked daily in these spaces.
Offered on select Saturdays throughout the year, this is a can’t-miss opportunity only available at the Independence Seaport Museum!
We encourage guests to dress appropriately, including wearing closed-toed shoes, long pants, and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. We will provide hard hats and any other safety necessities.
