Independence Seaport Museum has implemented new procedures for visitors prior to and during their visit.  Please scroll down for important information as you plan your trip.

By visiting Independence Seaport Museum the guest voluntarily assumes all risks related to potential exposure to COVID-19 in or about Independence Seaport Museum.  The Museum has modified its experience to adhere to safety guidelines and protocol.

What safety precautions is the Museum implementing for visitor safety?
The Museum takes the safety of visitors and staff very seriously.  Upon reopening, ISM will ask all visitors to:

  • Everyone entering the Museum and boarding Cruiser Olympia must wear a face mask.  If you do not have a mask one can be provided while supplies last (children under 2 are not required to wear masks).
  • Hand sanitizer stations have been installed throughout the galleries in high volume areas.  Stations will also be placed on Cruiser Olympia.  We highly encourage visitors to use hand sanitizer after interacting with the exhibits and ship.
  • We highly encourage visitors to follow social distancing and remain 6 feet apart from other guests.  Markers will be placed on the rug as reminders.
  • Once you have used the restroom, please wash your hands for the recommended 20 seconds. 

Additionally, ISM staff members will be:

  • All Museum staff members will certify to health checks daily. 
  • All Museum staff members will be wearing face masks.  
  • ISM's public engagement staff will be wearing gloves for all transactions. 
  • Behind plastic partitions that have been installed at the front desk.

The Museum has also done the following as we welcome back guests:

  • Regular, daily cleaning has been increased, specifically for those components that are high interactivity.
  • Certain exhibit components have been adjusted or removed based on levels of interactivity.  

Independence Seaport Museum also requires that if you (or anyone in your party) are experiencing the following symptoms to please stay home:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • Trouble breathing
  • Persistent pain or press in the chest
  • Bluish lips or face
  • Any other systems/emergency warning signs as identified by the CDC

Additionally, if you (or anyone in your party) may have been exposed to an individual that has had COVID-19 we ask that you do not visit the Museum for fourteen (14) days.

Independence Seaport Museum reserves the right to refuse service to any visitor who is not in compliance with the policies/conditions listed above.
