Join us for a special member sail on the Skipjack Sigsbee, here from the Chesapeake Bay!
Originally built in 1901, Sigsbee served in an oystering fleet for 88 years, and became notable as the first skipjack with a woman captain. Today, Sigsbee sails the Chesapeake and Delaware Bays, teaching students about the ecology, history, and economic importance of her local waters.
Important safety information: Children must be age 9 or older to attend. All children under the age of 18 will be required to wear a life jacket, and life jackets are available to all. Closed-toed shoes are required.
This is a rain-or-shine event. Please dress appropriately for the weather, and bring a warm layer and sun protection.
The sail departs promptly at 4pm.
