Anapkin, a postcard, a matchbook-all are designed to be discarded, but
sometimes we keep these souvenirs because they have personal
significance. They serve as tangible reminders of memories we don't
want to forget.
In addition to the letters, photographs and business papers found in the
Seaport Museum Archives, we also collect other personal items.
Often we know why these ephemera were saved, but sometimes we can only
guess. For us, the materials hold broader significance beyond their
original personal value-they connect us to a past time and place.
