How to get to Independence Seaport Museum

|
By Walking:
From the Visitors Center on 6th and Market Streets, walk south on 6th Street for 2 blocks to Walnut Street. Turn left onto Walnut Street (going east). Continue straight, crossing Front Street. Keep walking straight over the Walnut Street Pedestrian Bridge. You will see the Delaware River ahead and the Museum on your right as you walk down the steps (there is an elevator if needed).
By Car:
Take I-95 (from North or South) to exit #20 (formerly exit #16) marked variously: Historic Area, Penn's Landing, Columbus Blvd, Washington Ave. At the traffic light turn left onto Columbus Blvd. (aka Delaware Ave.). About one mile up, you will see the Hyatt Regency Hotel on your right. Immediately after the hotel, at the light, there is a driveway under the Walnut Street Pedestrian Bridge. Turn right into the driveway which will take you into the Penn's Landing Parking Lot. The parking lot is in front of the Museum
Parking is also available at several attended lots along Penn's Landing as well as at meters and several lots within the Old City vicinity. Parking is within easy walking distance to the Historic Area, many restaurants, the Visitors Center and other attractions.
By Bus:
Take SEPTA buses 33, 21 and 42 to the end of the line on Chestnut Street and Penn's Landing. After getting off the bus, walk to the right, through the gate and down the path of Penn's Landing's Great Plaza. You will see Independence Seaport Museum's sign and colorful signal flags signs marking the Museum's entrance to your right.
Bus Routes 48, 17 and 5 come in to the bus station at Front and Market Streets. Walk south on Front Street to Walnut Street (2 blocks south), then make a left and cross the Walnut Street Pedestrian Bridge. You will see the Delaware River ahead and the Museum on your right as you walk down the steps (there is an elevator if needed).

By Subway:
Take the Market-Frankford Line to the Second Street station. Exit and walk south on Second Street for two blocks to Walnut Street. Turn left onto Walnut Street, crossing Front Street, then across the pedestrian bridge to the Museum on your right.
By Train:
Take the Regional Rail Lines (SEPTA) train to the Market East Station (11th Street). Connect there with the Market-Frankford subway EAST to Second Street Station and proceed as above (Subway).
By Ferry:
The Delaware RiverLink Ferry connects the Camden, NJ Waterfront, with Penn's Landing and Independence Seaport Museum. The Ferry departs from Camden every 40 minutes and Philadelphia 40 minutes. For more information call 215.925.LINK.
*The ferry will conclude daily service on Thursday, September 22, 2005. It will then switch to Friday Sunday service through October 31, 2005. The ferry will also continue evening service for Tweeter Center concerts.
By Boat:
The marina at Penn's Landing offers a variety of sized slips for boats cruising along the Delaware River. The Museum is immediately adjacent to the Marina.
Independence Seaport Museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Museum is closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

Ticket includes admission to Independence Seaport Museum's Galleries, Cruiser OLYMPIA and WWII Submarine BECUNA.
Notice: For safety reasons, Independence Seaport Museum reserves the right to close the ships during severe weather. Museum ships are not handicapped accessible.
Due to a restoration project, the Museum's ships, Cruiser Olympia and Submarine Becuna, will be closed to the public August 15, 2005 through September 30, 2005. Click here to learn more about the project.
