General Howe's Soiree

at Independence Seaport Museum with music by Tempesta di Mare

Independence Seaport Museum and Tempesta di Mare are jointly hosting General Howe’s Soirée, a baroque celebration of dance, dining and the Museum’s newest exhibit, The British Mistake

One year into the Revolutionary War, British General William Howe made a costly miscalculation and seized the capital city of Philadelphia. Ultimately, and luckily for us, his plans failed and Howe resigned his position – but not before he threw some of the most extravagant parties the city had ever seen.

We welcome one and all to a similarly lively evening with satin and satire for General Howe’s Soirée. Guests will enjoy cocktails, dinner, and the world-class musicians of Tempesta di Mare and the Germantown Country Dancers as they lead us in baroque music and dance to bring this episode of revolutionary history to life.
