Independence Seaport Museum is launching the Philadelphia Seaport Festival, a month-long festival with events and activities at Independence Seaport Museum, Penn's Landing and on the Delaware River.

Philadelphia Seaport Festival kicks off Thursday, September 8th with the arrival of Delaware’s tall ship, Kalmar Nyckel, and concludes with the Seaport Museum’s annual Wooden Boat Festival on Saturday, October 8th.

Cast off from the Seaport Museum's dock on a 90 minute exploration of the Delaware on Philadelphia's only Chinese Junk-rigged schooner. Sails are available daily through 10/31 for $50 per person (includes admission to Seaport Museum). Sails available at 11:00 am, 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm. Capacity per sail: 6 passengers. Guests are invited to haul lines, raise the sails and enjoy tales of the original Kalmar Nyckel aboard Delaware's Tall Ship. Or, become a "pirate" on one of the special pirate sails. All sails are $60 per person and last 2.5 hours (except Parade of Sail and Pirate Battle). Capacity: 49 passengers.

Pirate Battle on the Delaware River. Sail like a pirate aboard the Tall Ship Kalmar Nyckel or the AJ Meerwald and engage other ships in a mock pirate battle on the Delaware River.
