| Introduction People have always wanted to be on water. The first boat was probably a log that someone paddled with her hands and feet. From then on, humankind has been designing and building boats that are more stable, faster, last longer and carry more weight. |

| What Makes Boats Float? When you sail a boat in a sea breeze, you can feel all the forces of physics moving you forward. In this section of the exhibit, you're invited to experiment with wind, weight and water to answer these questions: -What keeps a boat from tipping over? -What makes boats float or sink? -How can you use wind to move through water? -How do you steer a boat? -What boat designs move the fastest and carry more weight? |
