Regatta Information

The Walnut2Walnut regatta portion of the event will take place on the Schulykill and Delaware Rivers. Please read the section that pertains to your rowing experience. Whether you are renting a boat through the Seaport Museum or bringing your own boat, it is important to read this whole page to ensure your experience is pleasurable.

All Participants

Participants receive a SAILOR hat, event T-shirt, 10 percent off in the Museum Store, and admission to the Boat Shop BBQ at the conclusion of the regatta. Those who participate in the competitive division are eligible for prizes.

In May, participants will be asked to choose competitive or recreational division, no decision is needed at registration.

Participants must be at least 18 years old to participate in a single, 16 and 17 year olds may participate in a tandem (or larger boat) with a parent or guardian. All participants must wear a life jacket while on the water.

Bringing a Boat

Those bringing a boat should deliver their boat to regatta volunteers at the 25th and Locust entrance to Schuylkill Banks no later than 8:00 a.m. to allow time to park your care in the Penn's Landing Lombard Circle lot, adjacent to Olympia and Becuna. A shuttle bus will take you from Independence Seaport Museum back to the starting area at Schuylkill Banks, where you will check-in and can enjoy a casual breakfast.

Boats will need to be carried from vehicles and launched by hand, if you have any concerns about the size or weight of your boat, please contact Gina Pickton at gpickton@phillyseaport.org to ensure the Schuylkill Banks and Seaport Museum docks can accomodate your boat or need to consider alternatives for launching and landing.

Renting a Boat

The Seaport Museum is actively partnering with Hidden River Outfitters to try to provide rental boats for everyone who wants to participate. We are not sure how many rental boats we will be able to secure, so we recommend registering as soon as possible to ensure you can participate.

This option includes event registration, plus rental of a boat, paddle (or oars) and life jacket. For those who will be driving to the event, we recommend parking at a lot adjacent to the Seaport Museum before 8:30 a.m. and catching our shuttle to Schuylkill Banks, where check-in and breakfast will take place.
