200 year-old songs from the War of 1812

Songs inspired by naval victories helped to communicate American success at sea. Sung in homes, taverns and at public events these songs were set to familiar popular tunes allowing everyone to sing along. These songs built up public support for the war and boosted a sense of nationalism.
